Conservatives threaten the sanity of our country by spreading lies

Happy New Year, Everybody!

Enjoy the Bowl games, the beer, the bratwursts and all the festivities.
And please be aware that Republicans and Conservatives will continue to lie in order to confuse the truth of the Iraq War, the Financial Meltdown of 2007/2008, and on and on.
Have fun and question what you hear and see from the TV especially. Use your critical thinking to parse the words of what other people say. Unfortunately, a lie repeated enough times becomes accepted as truth.
On this first day of 2011, we are still fighting a false war in Iraq, and George W. Bush is conducting a book tour to confuse the American people about why that is.
I keep writing these posts because I believe if we, as a country, sharpen our critical thinking skills we can avoid wasting trillions of dollars if/when the Republicans and Conservatives try to exploit our ignorance and fear again. Next time, hopefully we won’t be so willing to believe whatever they say. And yet, Bush tells lies on Oprah…and people believe him. The women in the audience clap for him. He has never apologized for the Iraq War, and then he wrote a book about his destructive decision-making processes. The lies just keep on coming because he goes from TV station to TV station, and radio interview to radio interview, repeating them.
This country is still the best country the world has ever known as long as we keep talking with each other based on fact & evidence from various highly accredited named sources of information.
Sincerely, your fellow American

Minute 7:30

Hans Blix, the United Nations Weapons Inspector sent to Iraq, said “We had not seen any smoking guns.”

Minute 30:00

“What was missing…namely critical thinking….the political leaders, they wanted to come to the conclusion, so they took away the question marks and put in exclamation marks instead.”

Minute 33:00

“In 1997 and 1998, both Mohamed ElBaradei [head of the International Atomic Energy Agency] and I had declared that there was no [Iraqi] infrastructure in the nuclear field any longer, at all. We understood how the whole program had worked, and what had been there had been destroyed under our supervision.”

Conservatives and Republicans used the catch-phrase “9-11” to stoke the flames of fear in the hearts and minds of an entire generation of Americans. Hypocritically, Conservatives and Republicans, who claim they care about Americans, tried to deny federal spending to pay for medical costs incurred by volunteers and rescue workers helping to search for survivors and aid the injured at the toxic site of “Ground Zero” – where two planes flew into the former Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan, in September 2001.

Jon Stewart dedicated an entire show to the 9-11 First Responders, in order to shame the Republicans in Congress into passing a bill to pay for the medical ailments of these American heroes (who were told the air was safe to breathe at Ground Zero when it was not).

“The Senate on Wednesday unanimously passed a compromise bill to aid emergency workers who were sickened after they responded to the terrorist attack on New York’s World Trade Center.

The final bill, worth about $4.3 billion, is significantly less than the $6.2-billion version that had been blocked by Republicans. Originally, the bill was pegged at $7.4 billion….

The dispute over the bill had become a political embarrassment for Republicans as critics, including comedian Jon Stewart, lambasted the GOP. Opponents were portrayed as small-hearted Scrooges seeking to go back on support for victims of the terror attack.”

Thank you, Jon Stewart…

Remember, Republicans will lie, cheat and steal.

Just because President George W. Bush says something on Oprah does not make it true.

George W. Bush lies, cheats and steals.

He lied about being sick to his stomach about not finding Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq (because a man who is sick to his stomach can not tell jokes about WMD for laughs at the White House Correspondents Dinner). He cheated the American people out of Trillions of Dollars that he gave away to the Superwealthy in the form of Tax Cuts (yes, that mainly benefited the richest Americans and did not trickle down to the rest of us, because the average American’s wages were stagnant for the last decade) and to military contractors, like Halliburton, in the form of no-bid contracts. He stole the presidency by sliming McCain in the 2000 primaries in South Carolina (the false claim that McCain had an illegitimate black baby), by rigging the stop of the recount with the help of Katherine Harris in Florida, and by having his Republican-appointed Supreme Court judges and friends of the Bush family declare him the President as a result of Bush v. Gore.

George W. Bush lied about Saddam Hussein and the country of Iraq having a connection to al Qaeda (and by that association, Bush lied about Iraq having a connection to the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. on September 11, 2001…almost eight months after he took the oath of office).

* The presidency of George W. Bush is also responsible for the Great Recession. The heyday of Subprime-Mortgage-backed Securities was 2004-2007, when Bush’s Securities and Exchange Commission allowed the Wall Street banks to regulate themselves. Meaning, George W. Bush allowed no regulation of the Wall Street banks concerning the buying and selling of Subprime-Mortgage-backed Securities. These bad home loans made into stocks is what took down the world economy.

** Also, the TARP bailout of $700 billion was to be used by the Wall Street banks to L-E-N-D that money into the larger economy…but the ex-CEO of Goldman Sachs and the then Secretary of the United States Treasury, Hank Paulson, decided to let the banks just use the Taxpayers’ money in order to give bigger bonuses than the year before and not L-E-N-D the money as it was originally intended and approved by members of Congress. Just another example of how Republicans and Conservatives will lie, cheat and steal.

We are all worse off for the Decision Points of George W. Bush. The world would be better off if the man kept drinking and never became President. He was the worst president we have ever had…and now it’s time to blame the black man for cleaning up all of George W. Bush’s messes?

* Republicans are like Robin Hood in reverse: Republicans steal from the poor and give to the rich…

The result of George W. Bush’s presidency:

– 10% unemployment, 17% underemployment

– 30% (or more) loss of home values

– The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost half its value, dropping from its high of 14,000 in October 2007; consequently many stock portfolios and 401ks lost half their value

– Credit Markets were frozen because Wall Street banks double-crossed us on the use of the $700 billion bailout; the bailout was not used as it was intended

– The average American’s wages were stagnant during the “Lost Decade” that George W. Bush presided over: “The Big Zero”

– $1 Trillion wasted on the false war in Iraq

– $1 Trillion wasted on tax cuts for the Superwealthy

– Even General Motors and Chrysler went bankrupt as a result of Republican Party Rule

– Over 4,000 US soldiers killed during the false war in Iraq

– Over 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians killed during the false war in Iraq…oh, and the shoes did fly!
