Barcelona and Real Madrid set up intriguing Clasico after crushing wins

Nov 21 2010 Sunday Mail

“LETHAL Lionel Messi brought up a century of La Liga goals last night as Barcelona crushed Almeria 8-0. The Argentinian grabbed a hat-trick to help the Catalan giants equal their biggest away win….

Messi has now scored an incredible 14 times in his last eight games and sits on 101 league goals at the age of just 23….

The thumping win matched Barca’s record 8-0 away win against Las Palmas in 1959. And it was the perfect way to prepare for next Monday’s El Clasico with Real Madrid at the Nou Camp.

But Barca head into that game a point behind Real who crushed Athletic Bilbao 5-1 at home….Cristiano Ronaldo also grabbed a hat-trick as Real struck five past dazed Bilbao at the Bernabeu.”

For Lagniappe, Argentina v. Brasil from November 17, 2010…

Minute 5:29

* See Lionel Messi split two defenders and create space around a third defender to blast with his left foot a diagonal shot past the goalkeeper and into the lower right corner of the net. And that’s how Argentina beat Brasil 1-0. This was Messi’s first win against the perennial favorites to the north of his homeland, the UK Guardian reported.
