Solar Decathlon peering over the cliff of Cande

Fande = Fact & Evidence; Cande = Conjecture & Exaggeration

Solar is a simple, ready-to-use solution. This Solar Decathlon makes solar look like a science fiction idea made for a future in time far, far away.

The main thing about solar is the homeowner changes the source of his/her energy. That’s it. You don’t need to change your appliances or your light bulbs.

Just change to the CO2-free power of the sun (instead of burning coal or natural gas) and then you’ve stabilized your energy costs, reduced carbon emissions, helped our national security (plug-in electric cars, too) and improved our national security (we make our energy at home, instead of warring for oil).

Where’s the average home with a peaked roof, a two-car garage, and the picked fence? In the U.S., solar panels work better at an angle of about 18-20 degrees, which happens to be the pitch of an average roof.

I love Frank Gehry and Frank Lloyd Wright. They made very imaginative and beautiful homes, but the majority of people do not live in these artistic concept homes, like the ones at the decathlon.

Solar electricity is a real solution. It works now. There’s no need to make it sci-fi.
